The lender is not willing to allow me to register the vehicle in a different state, I have been attempting to register this vehicle for six months and everytime I call my lender (which is in a different state) they have a different story and different things that they want me to do - total incompetance! At the end of this month, I will no longer be able to legally have the car on the road and I need to use the car constantly. Should I get an attorney and have the contract nullified?

They do not want you to take the car out of the state in case they have to repo the vehicle. If is a small bank you will have a hell of a time to get the vehicle register somewhere else. Most banks, if they are nice enough, all they want is a valid address and where is all the time.

In this case, the car is %26quot;not%26quot; completely yours until is paid in full. You could refinance the car with other major bank that will allows you to do that or simply trade the vehicle for some else and finance with a major bank.

You can also renew the registration on your previous place along with your driver's lic too with insurance and all will be fine.

Find a local bank, refinance for whatever the balance is, get the title in state and get it registered. That's about all you can do if they won't cooperate with you.

What state do you live in? I know North Dakota and California will NOT give up a title for any reason if there's still a lien on it. Some states offer %26quot;interstate registration%26quot; where they will register it and plate it in your new state but the title stays in the old state. I don't know why the DMV and the bank can't work with each other.

I would ask your DMV about interstate registration. Otherwise, I don't know what else you can do besides refinancing but then it could take a few weeks to get the title.
